Head out to discover nature and the mountains

As soon as you lace up your hiking boots, you’re ready to go. Easy walking paths and hiking trails lead you through well-kept vineyards and apple orchards, up to Lebenberg Castle or along the scenic Marlinger Höhenweg trail.

For those seeking higher altitudes, there are many stunning peaks such as Laugenspitze or Naturnser Hochwart.

Mount Vigiljoch can be easily reached by cable car from Lana, only 2.5 km away. Up there, you can enjoy views stretching all the way to the Dolomites, go for relaxed hikes, or start longer tours stopping at mountain huts along the way.

Along the traditional Waalweg trails

The historic Waalweg trails are among the most beautiful walking paths in the Merano area.

One of them, the Tscherms Waalweg trail, passes close to our farmhouse. In Lana, you can follow the relaxed Brandis Waalweg trail to a small waterfall.

The Waalweg trails are especially beautiful in spring, when everything is in bloom, and in autumn.

The popular Marlinger Waalweg trail is also easily accessible. Along the trails you will find traditional inns and mountain taverns where you can stop for a coffee, a glass of wine, and enjoy the stunning views.

Cycling makes you happy

Along the valley runs the Adige cycle path. From here you can easily cycle towards Merano or Bolzano. The bike path into the picturesque Passeier Valley is also highly recommended.

E-bikes can be rented directly at the farmhouse (for a fee), allowing you to start your tour right away. For mountain lovers: take your mountain bike up to Vigiljoch by cable car, or climb Gampen Pass with a road bike.

After your ride, bikes can be safely stored in our garage.

Dumplings, Speck & Kaiserschmarrn

The real reason for hiking? The mountain huts along the trails.

They serve traditional South Tyrolean dishes such as dumplings in all variations – with speck, cheese, or nettles – as well as “Marende” platters with speck, cheese, and rustic bread. To finish, a sweet Kaiserschmarrn with homemade cranberry jam is a must.

Many huts and alpine pastures can be reached on foot or comfortably by cable car. On Vigiljoch, in the Merano 2000 hiking area, or on the Tschögglberg plateau, numerous huts with breathtaking views await you.

Strolling through arcades and experiencing South Tyrolean city charm

The spa town of Merano and the provincial capital Bolzano are easily reachable by public transport. Historic arcades, small boutiques, and cozy cafés define the city centers.

Merano is known for its green promenades and the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. In Bolzano, you can visit the world-famous mummy Ötzi, the “Iceman.”

With the South Tyrol Guest Pass, public transport is free of charge. The bus stop is just 5 minutes from the farmhouse.

Alpine-Mediterranean culinary variety all around

In Cermes and Lana you will find numerous restaurants, inns, and pizzerias. Directly below the farmhouse there is an inn, and others are within walking distance. For more culinary variety, Lana is just a few minutes away by car.

If you prefer cooking yourself, a bakery and a small grocery shop are located near the church, both within a few minutes’ walk. Farmers’ markets in Lana regularly offer fresh fruit, vegetables, and regional specialties directly from local producers.

Peace, views and lightness

An eventful day comes to an end. Back in your apartment, your gaze drifts over vineyards and apple orchards, while the mountains rise in the background.

Here the day ends in calm… perhaps by the pool, in the garden, or on your balcony.
